Research Abstract |
Financial Year 1999 : (1) Design and manufacturing of a power-assisted chair A pneumatic cylinder and a pneumatic proportional control valve were built into an assist-force actuator. An assist controller was a personal computer with AD/DA converter. A power-assisted chair was built up with the actuator and the controller. (2) Virtual Spring A new idea of virtual spring was proposed. Financial Year 2000 : (3) Improvement of virtual spring : total mode control At the International Fluid Power Exhibition, the power-assisted chair was demonstrated. Valuable comments were obtained. *Virtual spring characteristics could be different between standing-up and sitting-down motions. *The seat could be locked for supporting a fully standing body. *Reducing shock when sitting down suddenly. To improve the virtual spring with respect to the above comments, a total mode control technique was proposed which combined standing-up and sitting-down control modes.
