Research Abstract |
The aim of this research project is to discover and identity Japanese films considered to be lost in film history for some reasons. Professor Mikiro Kato (University of Kyoto) did research on the early films (1890s-1930s) shot in Japan and/or shooting japanese subjects made bh European film promotions, which are reserved in the National Film Archive in Amsterdam. Keisuke Katano (University of Niigata) did research on early japanese films(1890s-1910s) shot in Japan and /of shooring Jpanese subiects made by American film productions, which are reserved in the Library of Congress, the US. Yoichiro Miyamoto (University of Tsukuba) did research on Japanese films reserved in the Library of Congress and the National Archive in the US. He found that the US had not returned all the Japanese films confiscated during the occupation era of Japan, in spite of the official claim. Professor Hidsyuki Nakamura (Momoyama Gaknin University) did serearch on the relationship between Natoko, projector and the rental system of educational films by CIE during the occupation era of Japan.
