Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to examine the support of public health nurses and psychiatric visiting nurses toward persons with mental disorders who lives in their communities. The subjects consisted of two groups. The one was five public health nurses (all female) and the other was four psychiatric visiting nurses (3 female, 1 male). Data was collected through semi-structured interview and participant-observation. The results show that both public health nurses and psychiatric visiting nurses were supported of users everyday lives, on going treatment and created network with other professionals. Both nurses were worked as care managers and supported self-determination of users. Most important of public health nurses and psychiatric visiting nurses role was empower the persons with mental disorders who lives in their communities to have a quality of their lives.
