Outline of Annual Research Achievements

シュウ酸を優位とする低分子ジカルボン酸は、有機エアロゾルの主要な成分であり、それらは最大で有機炭素の20%を占める。ジカルボン酸は極性が高く水溶性であるため、雲凝結核(CCN)として雲の生成、気候変動、地球の水循環に重要な役割を果たす。これらは、人為起源および植物起源の揮発性有機物(VOC)の大気酸化によっても生成されることから、ジカルボン酸の二次的生成は大気中の有機エアロゾルの組成を大きく支配する要因となっている。
本研究の目的は、インド等で採取したエアロゾルを粒径サイズ毎に9段階で分級し(0.43 μm以下から10 μm以上)、それぞれの画分に存在するジカルボン酸の濃度・組成をガスクロマトグラフィー(GC), GC/MSを用いて詳細に解明しようとするものである。本研究では、構造異性体を含めて50種以上の化学種を同定することができた。また、ジカルボン酸に加えて、それらの前駆体であるケトカルボン酸、α-ジカルボニル、更には、植物起源の脂肪酸も測定した。本研究を実施することにより、様々な起源と生成機構を持つ異なった成分の解析から、粒径分布の情報を解明できつつある。VOCの酸化によって生成するジカルボン酸は微細粒子に存在するのに対して、植物のワックス起源の脂肪酸が酸化されることによって生成するアゼライン酸(C9)(不飽和脂肪酸のオゾン酸化によって生成)は粗大粒子に濃集されるという傾向が分析結果から得られた。
本研究で分離したジカルボン酸の安定炭素同位体比(δ13C)をGC/Combustion/Isotope ratio MSを用いて測定する予定であるが、この方法で得られたデータは、ジカルボン酸の起源と光化学的変質(Aging)の情報を提供してくれる。そのため、濃度情報に加えて、有機エアロゾルの起源や光化学的変質の程度をエアロゾルの粒径サイズ毎に評価することが可能となる。
