Outline of Annual Research Achievements

多重応答性相転移を示す化合物の物性研究として、これまでにシアン化物イオン架橋混合原子価Fe-Co錯体における電子移動に伴うスピン転移(Electron-Transfer-Induced Spin Transition = ETCST)が見出され、光誘起単分子磁石や光・熱による磁性・電気伝導性変換を示す物質が開発されてきた。本研究では、分子のキラリティーに着目した分子設計によって、様々な外場に応答しうる多重機能性分子性化合物の創製を目指して研究を行った 。キラル構造をもつ2次元および3次元混合原子価金属錯体では、結晶の電気双極子により強誘電体となる可能性があり、電場誘起相転移を示す化合物が開発できると考えられる。これまで電場誘起相転移をしめす分子システムの研究例は皆無と言ってよく、これが実現すれば従来まで光と温度に頼っていた状態変換を電場により高効率・高速で状態変換できる全く新しい物質系を実現できる。
本研究において、新規キラル4座配位子を設計・合成し、高次構造を持つシアン化物イオン架橋混合原子価Fe-Co集積型錯体の構築を行ったところ、キラルな鉄-コバルト9核かご状錯体の新規合成に成功した。この化合物の物性測定および外場に対する多重応答性について調べたところ、特異な誘電応答と電子移動共役スピン転移が観測された。この研究で得られた知見をもとに、かご空間を持つ電子移動系多核錯体においてより精密な分子修飾を行うことで、磁気・光・誘電が絡む多重応答性化合物の開発が期待できる。
