Research Abstract |
In this study, They challenged a fundamental research : to focus on Nature Study and Nature Games as practices in Conservation and Outdoor Based Environmental Education, to examine a theoretical hypothesis of a relationship between those practices and the structure of comprehensive environmental education, to extract some types and practical models of dynamic practices in regional environmental education, through a comparable method between Japan and United States, and to find some theoretical and practical subjects of the learning which can be more structural in Conservation and Outdoor Based Environmental Education. In the first year of this study, they researched some typical case studies in the United States, as a developed country in Conservation and Outdoor Based Environmental Education. Then, Norio Koizumi and Kazuki Ishizaki could collect a lot of documents of this research field, such as Nature Games and so on. Therefore, in the second (final) year 2004, they conducted this study, based on a comparable research between Japan and United States, like dispatching an investigator Toshihiko Ando and an adjunct investigator Shinichi Furihata who has a lot of information about the research area, to the annual conference of North American Association of Environmental Education(NAAEE). Meanwhile, the head investigator Yukihiko Asaoka and an investigator Yoshitaka Kojima also got some documentations and information of Conservation and Outdoor Based Environmental Education in the East Asian region (especially South Korea). Then, they practiced a new research method of Significant Life Experiences (SLE) which was accumulated in the NAAEE. Those were challenges in structuring and extracting some models of Conservation and Outdoor Based Environmental Education. Besides, they released a report book as a result of this study.
