Research Abstract |
We have developed a system that enables users to capture recipes in a kitchen at Hakodate and Tokyo and share them with other people a distant place using a set of digital cameras, an image and sound recognition system, a recipe editing system, a W W W server system, and a videoconference system. Users can also communicate with others via the videoconference system installed in the kitchen. The project consists of five phases, in which we: 1. performed fieldwork on learning cooking at home in order to find the appropriate number and placement of cameras, timing, microphones, sensors and so on; 2. developed a system of automatic image acquisition during cooking; 3. developed the automatic recipe maker for the W W W; 4. developed the interactive communication system for cooking; and 5. tested the integrated systems with cooking novices and experts Our research papers are accepted one international conference and five domestic conferences. These conferences are major ones in fields of cognitive science, educational technology, human computer interaction, and computer software. Also we have interviewed and showed as articles in major Japanese newspaper and magazine. It reveals our research is highly expected academically and socially.
