Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成28年度は,主に既存観測データのコンパイルを行った.具体的には,十勝釧路沖におけるADCP(Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler:超音波ドップラー多層流向流速計)のデータをアスキーデータ形式にまとめることが出来た.これにより,海底圧力計やA-lineによる海水温・塩分の深度プロファイルも併用することにより,十勝釧路沖における約20年間に渡る深層海洋循環の過程を,より高精度に推定する環境を整えることが出来た.
同様に,東北沖でこれまで実施してきたXCTD (投下式水温計・投下式塩分水温深度計) 観測データについても,データコンパイルを行った.さらに,日向灘でも別プロジェクトで海底圧力計を投入するため,XCTDの同時観測が実施できるように年末に観測実施リハーサルを行った.これにより,本研究の対象領域を東北沖および日向灘沖にも展開できる準備が整った.
本研究の着想をさらに発展させるべく,研究代表者は所内の公募研究:イノベーションアウォード萌芽研究として,「海底~海面を貫通する海洋観測データの統合解析」という課題で応募した結果,採択されることになった.これにより,所内有志の研究者が集まった研究合宿を実施した.この合宿の際に本研究内容を紹介し,参加者一同で話し合った結果,地球深部探査船「ちきゅう」の掘削時にも応用することになった.具体的には,「ちきゅう」櫓上での気象センサー観測の設置を行い,孔内観測データの活用に向けた調整を開始した.

Reason

他との連携については,当初の予定を大きく上回る成果を上げることが出来た.また,室戸沖の海底圧力計の解析結果については国際学術雑誌に論文としてまとめ,現在投稿中である.一方で,地殻変動の数値モデル化および十勝釧路沖の海洋変動については,年度内に論文としてまとめることが出来なかったので,総合的に見てやや遅れている.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

熊野灘でのDONETおよび十勝釧路沖の海底圧力計の解析を進め,論文としてまとめる一方で,「ちきゅう」を含めた海底~上空の同時観測を南海トラフ沿いで実施する計画を進め,気象および海洋変動が海底圧力に及ぼす影響を評価するための観測を進める.
