Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To contribute to understandings of mating strategies and tactics in reef fishes, field observational surveys and aquarium experiments focusing on mating behaviors and sex change patterns in females of polygynous damselfishes and gobies were conducted. In field surveys, a new sex change pattern called cryptic sex change was confirmed. In aquarium experiments, fecundity data in female individuals just after reversed-directive sex change were successfully obtained.
