Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Autism is a congenital neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficits in social communication and social interaction, and restricted patterns of behavior. The cause of autism is not known, although abnormalities of neurotransmitter have been suggested to date. Previously, we have reported serotonergic abnormalities in the brain of autism using autism model rats. In the present study, we investigated other neurotransmitters such as dopamine and noradrenalin. We found that broad abnormalities of neurotransmitters may exist in the brain of autism.
