| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Intraoral strain elastosonography has been proved to be an alternative noninvasive method for diagnosing the early stage tongue carcinoma and evaluating the degree of muscular invasion.
A normal mucosal layer of tongue, which is required for the definition of depth of invasion in latest T staging of tongue carcinoma, has been clearly demonstrated by using the appropriate acoustic coupling material and high-resolution ultrasound probe.

舌初期癌の診断と治療において、口腔内走査による超音波診断（舌エコー）が基本的な画像検査であることが示唆された。組織の硬さを可視化するエラストグラフィは鑑別診断と浸潤の程度の評価に役立ち、高分解能探触子と適切な音響カップリング材の適用はTNM分類に必須の情報を得ることができるため、舌エコーは舌癌を診療する医療現場で欠かすことのできない検査項目となることが予想される。
