Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, I developed a system for automatic assessment of foot pressure information for application to fall prevention for elderly. This is auto-assessment system using machine learning methods. In addition, I investigated the effect of gait of hallux valgus on middle age female’s gait. The system which I developed takes the pressure data and shape characteristics of feet as an input, and classifies it into three categories: ‘normal’, ‘high arch’, and ‘flat foot’. I reviewed feature quantities and classification methods to enhance detection accuracy. Then I established the system that does not overlook abnormal feet. Also, the purpose of this study is to discuss the effect of hallux valgus on middle age female’s gait. Among subjects with hallux valgus, foot pain appeared to decrease gait efficiency. The results indicated that foot pain caused by hallux valgus has a severe effect on gait.
