Outline of Final Research Achievements

Realization of strong interaction between light and matter is important for realizing ultra low threshold lasers, high efficient wavelength converters, single photon sources and so on. Therefore, in this research, we have performed 1. calculation of cavity structure using time domain difference (FDTD) method, 2. fabrication of nano optical fiber Bragg resonator exceeding Q value 4000 using a helium ion microscope, and 3. nano-fabrication on high purity diamond substrates using the helium ion microscope.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究により得られたナノ光ファイバブラッグ共振器は、原理的に、単一発光体から発生した光子を、80%を超える効率でシングルモード光ファイバへ結合させることが可能である。それにより、超低消費電力レーザーや高効率波長変換素子などへの光デバイスへの応用が期待できる。また、光子を用いた量子コンピュータや量子ネットワークを実現するために重要な、高効率単一光子源、量子位相ゲート、量子メモリなどへの応用も考えられる。さらに、コンタミネーションが極めて小さい高精細集束イオンビーム装置によるダイヤモンド基板の加工技術は、光共振器だけでなく、ナノエレクトロニクスやナノメカトロニクスへの応用も考えられる。
