Outline of Final Research Achievements

We studied the problems on nonlinear partial differential equations representing a dynamical transformation for solid materials such as thermoelasticity and thermoelastoplasticity and their related topics. Our results for this research subject are roughly classified as follows: (1) classification of asymptotic behaviors of solutions for the beam equations with variable coefficients, (2) derivation of a model for shape memory alloys wire (3) energy methods for structure-preserving finite difference methods and its applications.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

熱弾性や熱弾塑性は既に工学・物理分野の観点からは理論が確立されており、衝突のシミュレーションなど様々な場面で利用されている。一方そこで用いられるのは本来のモデルを簡略化した問題が殆どである。それは、元のモデルは計算コストが高いことと、数学的に厳密な検証などについては数学理論が十分追いついていないことに起因している。
本研究課題では、オリジナル・もしくはそれにできる限り近いモデルに対する方法論の確立を目指しており、より精度が高く安全な最適設計などに繋がる可能性を秘めている。
