Outline of Final Research Achievements

The most important achievements are the following two points. Although the principle of the electrical pitting has not been fully elucidated, we will investigated further and aim for complete elucidated.
(1) Discharge phenomenon occurring within lubricating oil film: It was clarified that the bearing could be damaged by flowing the current not only at the time of light emission observed as a white point but also after changing from the white point to a black point. (2) The pitch of washboard/Fluting (W/F) pattern caused by electrical pitting: We confirmed that the pitch of the W/F pattern is twice the minor axis, 2b, of the Hertzian contact ellipse, and proposed that the rule for determining the pitch of W/F pattern using the analogy of the Turing pattern theory.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

軸受電食とは油膜内部の放電で軸受が溶融損傷する現象と言われており、モータの故障原因になっている。軸受が電食しているモータの軸受部の電流を測定すると、通電とも言える常時連続した流れであり、放電特有の一瞬だけの流れでないことに疑問を持っていた。今回の研究成果(1)より、モータ軸受部の電流が常時流れることの説明ができるようになった。また、今回の研究成果(2)より、電食痕が洗濯板状になる理由も説明できるようになった。本研究により軸受電食の原理が少しずつ分かってきており、完全に解明できれば、最終ゴールである軸受電食の防止方法を提案でき、モータを長期間安定して運転できるようになる。
