Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We investigated the effects of general anesthetics, which are reported to have neurotoxic or neuroprotective effects, on regenerating neurons induced from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Propofol, a commonly used general anesthetic, mildly enhanced neurite outgrowth in regenerating neurons at low concentrations, but inhibited it at higher concentrations. Pressure-loaded regenerating neurons showed inhibition of neurite outgrowth but did not lead to cell death.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
