Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we tried to examine whether the viral RNA sensor molecule, RIG-I-like receptor (RLR), can recognize endogenous RNA(s) and trigger anti-viral innate immune responses to regulate an unknown physiological activity. Our results demonstrate that several kinds of 5’ppp-containing endogenous RNAs, which are transcribed by RNA polymerase III, induce type I interferon-activating signal in RIG-I-dependent manner, suggesting an possible importance of interaction between viral RNA sensor molecule and self-RNA.
