Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study aims to develop a multiplexed fluorescence readout method using time varied fluorescence signals for point of care testing of microRNA (miRNA) biomarkers. Multiplexed fluorescence readout was experimentally confirmed with fluorescence coded DNA strands and three molecular beacons. Numerical simulation demonstrated that the time-varied fluorescence signals can enhance the readout accuracy.

本研究の特色として、光・分子情報処理をmiRNA検出へ応用することにより、情報通信技術のナノ領域への実用展開の一例を与えることが挙げられる。分子検出において、分子レベルでの情報加工と蛍光読み出しへ高度な情報通信技術を適用できれば、物質により制限された条件において最大限に情報を伝送することができる。本研究の成果は、安価で簡単な操作によるmiRNAバイオマーカー検出を可能にし、癌の超早期発見や進行ステージの的確かつ迅速な診断につながる。これは、医療現場に留まらず、日常生活における健康状態の把握を高精度で可能にし、未病段階での予防や早期治療の普及につながることが期待できる。
