| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Antibiotics must be used for successful treatment and preventing side effects in appropriate dosage, which has yet to be determined particularly in patients with severe infections. We therefore investigated the strategy for dose individualization. As the results, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) methods allowed to measure antibiotics concentrations. The measurement allowed the strategy based on Bayesian estimation (a statistical methods to calculate individual dosage) to improve target concentration range attainment rate from 50% to 90%, and to contribute to successful treatment and preventing side effects.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
患者毎の抗菌薬の体内での濃度推移を把握するためには、様々な患者における濃度推移を評価して、それをまとめた情報（母集団薬物動態モデル）を構築しておくことが効果的であり、いくつかの抗菌薬で構築した。とはいえ、濃度推移の予測が困難な場合には、実際に血液中の濃度を測定し、その後の濃度推移を把握するための手段が必要である。その課題に対し、血中濃度測定方法を確立し、ベイズ推定を活用することが有効であることが、本研究で明らかになってきた。本研究の成果により、抗菌薬による感染症治療成績は向上することが期待できる。
