Outline of Final Research Achievements

We detect predominant difference of osteogenic gene expression between craniosynostosis and non-craniosynostosis. In non-craniosynostosis, results also suggest age may affect osteogenic gene expression.
We established osteoblast derived iPS cells and iPS cells differentiated into osteoblast again.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

現状では、遺伝的要因は、頭蓋縫合早期癒合症全体の20%程度の症例を説明するにすぎず、また、環境要因が関与する割合も明らかでない。
患者頭蓋縫合由来骨芽細胞からiPS細胞を樹立し、骨芽細胞へ再分化させる系を用いて分化亢進のパターン解析を行うことで、頭蓋縫合早期癒合症の分類ができるのではないかと考えた。
疾患の分類により病態推移の予測が可能になることにより、本研究が将来的に、治療方針が立案や、新規治療の開発の一助になることを期待した。
