Outline of Final Research Achievements

We developed a module for each soft part so that soft robots can learn while replacing old parts. Assuming a compressed air-moving robot, we have developed the module itself and the parts, compressors, cylinders, tanks, etc. that will be placed in the module. In addition, we developed a method for robots to learn. We have developed a motion generation method that can move in new situations based on trial and error movement results so that soft robots can learn movement.

本研究成果の学術的意義は、ソフトロボットのハードウェアおよびソフトウェアの進展である。従来のロボットは硬い部品から成るが、ソフトロボットの身体は柔らかい。柔らかさを活用して従来困難であったタスクを達成できるが、硬い身体を前提とした従来の方法は使えない。このため、本研究の取り組みが貢献した。社会的意義として、人間のそばで動くロボットは柔らかい必要がある。安全のためである。そのような安全なロボットの実現に貢献した。
