| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We performed a comprehensive examination of Copy number alterations (CNAs) using isolated tumor glands obtained from biliary tract cancer. Our findings illustrate the unique molecular profile that characterizes the behavior of biliary tract cancer. In addition, candidate chromosomal alterations obtained from our results should be confirmed to determine whether such alterations may be useful as novel molecular markers.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
胆道癌は我が国での罹患率は欧米より高く，癌による死因の第6位を占める予後不良な疾患である．しかし，胆道癌は比較的稀な疾患で，有効な治療法が限られている．今回，我々は胆道癌のコピー数異常に着目し，SNPアレイを用いてコピー数異常を検索し，臨床病理学的特徴との関連を検討した．胆道癌のコピー数異常に基づき階層的クラスター解析を行ったところ2グループに分かれ，有意な変化を示す遺伝子座を特定した．胆道癌における病態解明は、臨床病理学的因子に加えて分子病理学的因子も必要であり，ゲノムワイドな観点から癌の発生・進展の機序をさらに解明していくことが必要である．
