| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to grasp the current situation of hikikomori support, a questionnaire survey involving all public health nurses working for public health centers or local governments of Niigata Prefecture was implemented. The responses of 176 subjects were ultimately analyzed. The results demonstrated that approximately 98% of the public health nurses wished to be supervised and were providing support while feeling incompetent. The following activities were implemented: interviews of elderly parents, support providers, and the Parents’ Group leaders, analysis of the psychological state of individuals with hikikomori, and workshops for training facilitators. Hikikomori support can be improved by enhancing cooperation/collaboration between the Parents’ Group and support providers, using insights from the Parents’ Group effectively, building a relationship on a daily basis that enables impromptu connection between the two parties, and implementing workshops continuously.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
親の会（会）と専門的な知見に基づいた支援者との連携の形を提示できたことは、今後支援者、行政の専門職、保健師などの支援の質の向上にどうつなげればいいかのヒントとなる。また、会の今後のさらなる活動を促進させるために、行政は財政面や広報などへの協力、専門的知見を有する支援者は会の運営へのスーパーバイズ等の協働体制をとる必要性も提示できた。また、ファシリテーターとなる人たちが、個人的な体験だけに依拠することなく、バランスの取れた運営力を発揮する力を得ることは、参加者の減少の抑止と増加の可能性、が期待できる。会のない市町村で新たに開設する可能性も考えて、養成講座なども実施する手掛かりになったと考える。
