Outline of Final Research Achievements

I investigated optical Fano metamaterials with high Q-factors based on far field interference in ADB metamaterials. It was revealed that gold nano-rods are suitable to realize high Q Fano resonance. By applying substrate etching technique, refractive index sensitivity of optical Fano metamaterials can be improved. Moreover, b-anisotropic Fano resonance was demonstrated using 3D split ring structures.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では、高性能なファノ共鳴光メタマテリアルを得るための形状に関する知見が得られた。また、基板エッチングによるセンシング性能の向上は、幅広い金属ナノ構造に適用可能である。以上から、プラズモニック構造を用いたセンシング技術の重要な要素技術を得ることができた。
3次元構造におけるファノ共鳴の観測では、複雑な共鳴応答が3次元構造で制御可能であることを実験的に示すことができた。これは、光メタマテリアル研究における複雑な電磁応答とその制御性の理解を進めたという点で学術的意義がある。
