| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We constructed a self-care program for breastfeeding that contributes to a reduced occurrence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) / Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) among children separated from their mothers immediately after birth. A manual that intervened from the early postpartum period was created as an indispensable aid for SUID prevention. We assessed the psychology of the mothers, their attachment to children, and their understanding of SIDS prevention to evaluate the effects of these factors after childbirth. We organized a symposium at the Japanese Sleep Society Meeting and reported on preventative efforts in pediatrics and nursing, overseas trends and cooperation with forensic medicine.

睡眠中の乳幼児突然死（SIDS / SUID）は未だ乳児死亡の３位を占める病態である．特にハイリスク児に対してSUIDの発生低減に寄与する母乳育児のセルフケアできるプログラムを構築し，産後早期から育児期に使用できる「睡眠中の乳幼児突然死（SIDS / SUID）予防マニュアル」を作成した．産後の母親の心理をくみ取り，病院のみでなく今後保育の現場でも活用できるマニュアルへの発展の可能性を示した．
