Outline of Final Research Achievements

Immature teratoma of the ovary is a malignant tumor that develops in the ovaries of young people. The embryonic neuroectoderm component defines malignancy. However, the genetic abnormality of immature teratoma is not clear. On the other hand, 19q13.42 amplification has already been clarified as a genetic abnormality of pediatric brain tumors that mainly differentiate into the embryonic neuroectoderm component. We wanted to clarify whether the abnormality was found in the neuroectoderm component of immature teratoma, and examined it in 30 cases. The analysis result by FISH was that there was no amplification of 19q13.42 in all 30 cases.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

卵巣未熟奇形腫は若年者の卵巣に発生する胚細胞性腫瘍に属する悪性腫瘍である。奇形腫成分である胎芽期の神経外胚葉成分が悪性度を規定し、転移再発をきたす。しかし未熟奇形腫の腫瘍発生に関わる遺伝子異常は明らかになっていない。一方で、この胎芽期の神経外胚葉成分への分化を主体とする小児脳腫瘍である多層性ロゼットを形成する胎芽性腫瘍は、その遺伝子異常の詳細な情報がすでに明らかにされている。我々はこれらの小児脳腫瘍ですでに明らかとなった遺伝子異常である19q13.42増幅が、未熟奇形腫の神経外胚葉成分に認められないことを明らかにした。小児脳腫瘍と比較する文脈で、卵巣未熟奇形腫の分子異常の一端を明らかにした。
