Outline of Final Research Achievements

A rat pancreatic cancer model was created and hemodyamics and intraarterial blood distribution were confirmed by dine injection and CT during arteriography. Micellar nanoparticles demonstrated higher tumor tissue concentration at 6-24 hours after injection compared with intraarterial irinotecan injection. Micellar nanoparticles could be a promising intraarterial drug delivery system to achieve high tumor response with reducing adverse events.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

膵癌は予後不良な疾患で国内の死亡数は今なお漸増し現在でも根治が最も困難な癌腫の一つであるとされている。切除不能膵癌に対する化学療法には限界があり、新規治療法の開発が望まれる。本研究は、膵動注療法における新規薬剤の開発を目的とし、ラット膵癌モデルにおいて、ミセル化ナノ粒子が膵癌の治療効果を高め、副作用の低減が期待できることが示された。
