Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To explore a potential novel biomarker, we examined the plasma miRNA profiles in adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) characterized by diverse clinical features. Plasma samples from 6 ATL patients (acute: 3 patients; chronic: 3 patients), 3 HTLV-1 carriers and 3 HTLV-1 uninfected volunteers were used to evaluate about 2600 kinds of miRNAs. miR-92,miR-19 may be a biomarker to decide development of acute ATL, or transformation of chronic ATL. Let-7 family may be a biomarker to decide development and transformation of chronic subtype ATL. miR-130 may be a biomarker to decide development of chronic ATL.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
現在、血清レベルで簡便にHTLV-1キャリアからATL発症を予測できる分子マーカー発現異常は報告されていない。本研究では、血清中miRNAレベルがATL発症スクリーニングのためのバイオマーカーとなりうるかどうかを明らかにするために血清中miRNAレベルを測定した。 少数例ではあるがmiR-92、miR-19は急性型 ATL発症および慢性型ATLの急性転化の、 Let-7 familyは慢性型ATL発症および急性転化の、miR-130は慢性型ATL発症のバイオマーカーなる可能性があることがわかった。今後多数例の検討を行うことで、ATL 発症予測スクリーニング検査への応用が可能となるだろう。
