Outline of Final Research Achievements

The dynamics of localized patterns in a bistable reaction-diffusion system was studied from a viewpoint of the bifurcation theory.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

空間的に局在し、かつ自発的に動き回るパターンは自然界に数多く見られる。自発的な運動をする局在パターンはアクティブマター と総称され、近年盛んに研究されている。反応拡散方程式においても、パルス解やスポット解のように空間的に局在化したパターンが現れ、アクティブマターと似た振る舞いも多く見られる。定常解や進行解を中心に多くの結果が得られているが、より複雑なダイナミクスやそのメカニズムは不明な点が多い。本研究では新規ダイナミクスの探索とそのメカニズム解明により、局在解の研究に新たな知見を与え、さらにアクティブマターの駆動機構にも示唆を与え、普遍的な数理構造を明らかにする。
