Outline of Final Research Achievements

Among 121 cases examined, 72 found to have chromosome 22 monosomy. Among them, 7 cases had no somatic mutations in NF2 gene, and they are currently on further examination. During copy number analysis, angiomatous and microcystic meningioma were found to share distinct copy number aberrations, indicating same tumor forming process underlies between them.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

近年、次世代シーケンサーの普及に伴い髄膜腫の遺伝解析が大きく進歩している。現在、髄膜腫は病理学的所見のみに基づいて診断・分類されているが、予後にかかわる遺伝子変異も知られてきている。そのため、髄膜腫の遺伝子変異による診断・分類がなされれば、正確な予後予測や、全摘出が困難な髄膜腫に対する投薬治療を加速させる可能性が期待される。本研究は、血管腫性髄膜腫と微小嚢胞性髄膜腫が同一の染色体コピー数変化を示していることが明らかにし、髄膜腫の遺伝子診断の構築への布石となることが期待される。
