Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We investigated the relationship between sarcopenia and dysphagia in patient with acute stroke. Temporal muscle thickness measured by MRI was detected as significant explanator of dysphagia severity following stroke. We also investigated the changes of tongue thickness and temporal muscle thickness after the on set of stroke. These atrophy progressed 2 weeks after the onset of stroke. The result suggested that stroke-related sarcopenia may occur in mastication and swallowing muscles.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
