Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In our study, we showed that thyroid hormone preparation (teriparatide;TPTD) promotes osteoblast activity, thereby increasing the expression of RANKL in serum, which in turn promoted the activation of osteoclasts and consequently led to improvement of Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ).

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
超高齢社会を迎える日本で、骨粗鬆症患者も増加の一途を辿っている。治療薬であるBP製剤を服用する患者も増加しており、それに伴ってMRONJに苦しむ患者も増加している。MRONJに対する外科的治療の有効性は報告されているが、MRONJ患者の多くが高齢であることや外科的治療に伴うQOLの低下等の問題も多い。MRONJに対するTPTD治療の確立は急務である。本研究の結果は、MRONJに対するTPTD治療の有効性を示唆する結果であった。
