Research Abstract

ガラクトース転移酵素やシアル酸合成酵素の遺伝子改変マウスを解析することにより,IgA腎症やネフローゼの発症に糖鎖異常が関わっていることを明らかにした。また,ガラクトース含有糖鎖はその種類によって,空間学習・記憶や協調運動などの高次脳機能や初期発生にも重要な役割を担っていることを明らかにした。これらの成果は糖鎖の生物学的重要性を示すと共に,ヒト疾患の診断や治療に応用できると考えられる。
