Research Abstract

ミクロな世界では、量子力学の法則に従った独特な現象が存在する。有名なものでは、ボーズ凝縮、朝永ラッティンジャー液体、量子相転移などがあり、専門的には準粒子励起の混成がある。これらの量子現象は、磁場中の低次元磁性体のスピン・ダイナミクスにおいて観測することが可能であるが、従来、磁場の強さ不足のために実験が困難な例が多かった。本研究では、磁場のエネルギースケールに見合った小さな磁気的エネルギーの物質を探索することで、相対的な超強磁場を実現し、その上でスピン・ダイナミクスに現れる種々の量子現象を、中性子散乱技術を用いて観測することを目的としていた。私は、本目的に沿った研究を、一次元XXZ反強磁性体BaCo2V2O8、人工的酸素分子磁性体CPL-1、量子フェリ磁性体Cu2Fe2Ge4O13,など様々な物質において行った。その結果、擬ラッティンジャー流体におけるスピン密度波的秩序状態、軟らかなフレームワーク上におけるエキゾチックなスピンダイマー励起、ランダム磁場下におけるダイマー励起など、興味深い現象を実験的に観測することに成功した。
