Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、超高解像度実現のコア技術となる、自己組織化共晶体シンチレータを用い、Silicon on Insulator(SOI)型半導体光検出器と組み合わせ、数～数十μmの解像度と、エネルギー分解を可能とする検出器を構成する。当該検出器によりガンマ線の運動学変数の高精度な測定や応答パターン解析による粒子識別が可能となり、モノリシック結晶を用いた従来の放射線検出器では不可能であった、素粒子生成プロセスの解明や未知物質探索に向けた新規実験手法開発に繋がる。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

昨年度までに、共晶体に対し、シンチレータ材料の選択制、構造の均質化、大口径化の容易性の点で優位性を有する、新しい構造化シンチレータを開発した。量産性も高く、産業化も容易と考えられる。さらに、平行度の高いX線などのビームラインを活用した、イメージング試験を実施した。また、高分解能放射線イメージング検出器を開発し、放射線の一種であるアルファ線の飛跡を短時間間隔のリアルタイム画像として可視化できることを実証した。
今年度は、Tl添加Cs3Cu2I5、Tl添加CsI、Eu添加SrI2、CeBr3といった発光量と蛍光寿命に優れたハロゲン化物シンチレータをコアとした、バンドル光ファイバー型の光導波シンチレータの開発を実施した。量産に対応する大口径な加熱、延伸装置を用いた、光導波シンチレータのコア径の最小化とシンチレータプレートのタイリングも含めた大口径化の検討を実施した。製造プロセスを確立すべく、数百μｍ径の光導波シンチレータファイバー単線の連続52ｍ長での作製を実施し、数万本のファイバー単線を束ね、再度加熱延伸を行うことで、コア径を7-35μm の範囲で制御したOCS プレートの試作に成功した。湿度～3 ％のドライルーム内での、ドライオイルを使用したワイヤーソー切断を行うことで、シンチレータプレート状への加工が可能であることを確認した。得られたプレートをタイリングすることで２５㎜角のシンチレータプレートの試作まで達成できた。昨年度までに開発したイメージング装置にプレートを組み込み、イメージング試験を実施し、コア径に相当する光導波性能を実証した。さらに、各種シンチレータプレートを用いた、イメージング装置の試作も進め、γ線、X線、ポジトロンを同時に撮像するシステムや、CMOS 画像にビニング技術を実装したα線などの粒子線用の飛跡検出システムの試作も実施した。
