Outline of Research at the Start

我々はこれまで、ヒトを対象とした心理物理実験により人工物に対して自己の身体所有感及び運動主体感が生じること、神経画像研究により身体の部位と外界との関係を把握するのに後部頭頂皮質が重要な役割を果たすこと、さらにはマウスを対象として自己の身体所有感が調査可能であることを見出してきた。これらの知見のもと、本研究は、健常者及び障害者を対象とする心理物理・神経画像研究、動物実験、さらには数理モデル等による統合的なアプローチを用いて行い、拡張された身体を手掛かりとして自己意識の脳内情報処理を解析し、自己の認識のための基礎となる脳内機構を明らかとする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、BMI技術等によって拡張された身体を手掛かりとすることで自己意識の脳内情報処理を解析する。本年度は、ヒト実験においては、肘関節の動作と同期して動く筋電制御ロボットアームを用いて、運動主体感・身体所有感と運動の関係を調査した。ロボットアーム錯覚実験においては、ロボットが触れた物体に対する触覚刺激をリアルタイムに被験者に伝えることができる実験系を開発した。また、ロボットアーム実験系とラバーハンド錯覚課題を用いて神経性やせ症患者による実験を行い、人工物に対する身体所有感や運動主体感と治療経過の関係を示唆する結果を得た。加えて、BMI機器のインターフェイスとなるフリッカー刺激の周波数に応じたヒトの知覚への影響について、脳波により検討した。
マウス実験においては、運動主体感の評価に向けて、外部機器の操作と外部機器の応答の間に食い違いを設定した頻度で生じさせ、その食い違いを識別させた際の神経細胞活動を計測・解析したところ、機械学習により、マウスの選択を高い精度で予測できた。また、運動野の神経活動からマウスが操作をしている腕の動きを予測したところ、皮質の層に応じて予測の精度に違いが見いだされた。さらに、このような運動と感覚を処理する際の神経細胞活動の特性を説明するために、皮質の層構造に着目した数理モデルを構築してシミュレーションを行った。この他、微小電極に関する総説をまとめるなど、関連手法の調査・検討を行った。
松崎研究室では、計測上の個体差を少なくしたうえで皮質内ネットワークの時空間的な神経活動情報を明らかとするために、遺伝子組み換え動物で背側大脳皮質各領域を安定して2光子カルシウムイメージングする方法を確立し、2/3層のみならず5層でのイメージングを可能とした。またマウスの前肢運動課題を改良し、運動のキネマティクスをより定量的に評価することができるようになった。

Reason

ヒトを対象とする研究では、健常者および神経性やせ症患者を対象とする実験および解析を進め、またマウスを対象とする研究では、開発した課題を遂行中の神経細胞活動記録および解析等を進めることが出来た。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

ヒトを対象とした実験においては、筋電制御ロボットアームおよび触覚刺激装置を用いた実験で得られた結果に対し、身体認識とロボットアームの動作の関係について統計的な解析を行い、自己の身体感覚と運動の関係を考察する。また、生体信号により制御されるロボットアーム等を用いた患者・障害者を対象とする実験をさらに展開し、疾患・障害と身体感覚・運動の関連について調査する。
動物実験においては、自己が行う操作と外部機器の応答の間の食い違いの識別課題に対し、神経細胞活動を計測した個体数を増加させ、統計的解析が実行可能となるように進める。更には、機械学習などの技術を用いて、これらの計測データから識別に関連した神経細胞活動の動態について調査する。
