| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究では景観に含まれる要素をVR（仮想現実）上で任意に変化させ、それが景観の経済的価値に与える影響を明らかにする手法を開発し、今後の景観保護に向けた合意形成や政策の策定に資することを目指す。具体的には、VRモニターを用い、心理学の実験手法に基づいたランダム化比較試験により、景観の要素（色彩等）の違いおよび時間的変化に対する被験者の選好、心理的評価と支払意思額を明らかにする。さらに、色彩選好についての認知心理学的理論等を踏まえ、景観要素が景観の経済的価値を左右するプロセスを検討し、経済的価値の推定精度を向上させる。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
While the real-world environment consists of three dimensions, most existing economic research that evaluates consumers' willingness to pay for a given environmental good is based on two-dimensional images or verbal description. In this research project, economists and experimental psychologists work together to understand the relationship between human body and its surrounding, and its influence on the economic and psychological valuation of the environment. Specifically, the impacts of different types of representation of the environment in surveys to examine the willingness to pay for landscape preservation was examined through a series of experiments and surveys.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
景観についての情報の与え方によって実験（調査）参加者の支払い意思やその一貫性に差が生じうることを、条件を変えて行った一連の実証研究を通じて明らかにした。景観についての情報が心理的な評価や支払い意思につながるメカニズムについては今後解明すべき課題が多く存在するが、認知心理学の研究者と共同して研究を進めることによって多くの仮説や研究課題を得ることができた。
研究の当初の段階で行った基礎研究から、学術論文計7件を公刊した。一連の実証研究の結果についてはこれまでに2件の国際学会と2件の国内学会での報告を行うとともに、学術誌への投稿や改訂に取り組んでいる。
