Outline of Research at the Start

鉄道・道路施設では道床材,路盤材として砕石を主体とする粗粒材を広く使用している.これまでの研究で敷設後20年以上のバラスト軌道,供用30年以上のアスファルト舗装において破砕・細粒化が生じている.細粒化が進行すると雨水浸透に伴う沈下が頻発し脱線や陥没のリスクが高まる.近年では降雨特徴の変化により突発的に変状が生じるケースが増加し,これらの予防や維持管理コストの最小化のためには道床・路盤材の交換や改良のタイミングの判断が重要となる.そこで本研究では破砕・細粒化した道床・路盤材の雨水浸透に伴う沈下特性を解明し,交換や改良の適切なタイミング・効果を科学的に評価できる新たな維持管理体系を構築する.

Outline of Final Research Achievements

Coarse-grained materials are widely used as roadbed materials in railroad and road facilities. At the time of construction, the coarse-grained materials are within the specified grain size range, but they are crushed and finer-grained by traffic loads. As the finer grading progresses, settlement occurs more frequently, increasing the risk of derailment and sinking. In order to prevent disasters, it is important to make appropriate decisions on the timing of roadbed material replacement and improvement. In this study, we investigated the effects of crushing on the water retention, permeability, cyclic deformation, and bearing capacity of roadbed materials. An analytical method was also proposed to predict the deformation, settlement, and stability of track and pavement with aged roadbed materials. Furthermore, an evaluation method for the soundness of roadbed materials was proposed, and a new improvement method was developed.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

従来,道床材・路盤材の細粒化後の供用性予測の不確実性は高く,道床材・路盤材の交換や改良のタイミングは,降雨後に沈下が頻発する現象や災害発生に基づいて事後に経験的に判断することが多い.しかし,従来の方法が踏襲されると脱線・陥没の頻発や維持管理コストの増加はまぬがれない.それに対して本研究成果は,破砕・細粒化した道床材・路盤材の沈下や支持力特性を解明し,交換や改良の適切なタイミング・効果を科学的に評価できる新たな維持管理体系の構築に貢献するものであり,学術的意義がある.また,維持管理の経験知の強い領域を科学知に基づく領域に発展させ,災害防止や維持管理コスト抑制に貢献できる点で社会的意義がある.
