本研究は、1990年に誕生した中国インディペンデント・ドキュメンタリーを対象に、① 草創期来の参与観察者という申請者の稀有な立場から、② 現代思想・美術・舞台・劇映画など申請者が手がけてきた他領域との相互関係を対照させ、③「カルチュラル・アサイラム」という独自の枠組みの導入により、④ 現代中国の非公的文化生産のダイナミズムを解明することを目的とするものである。とりわけ、2017年の映画産業促進法による規制強化により、当該分野の急速な収縮が進み、公開資料が極端に制限される現在、申請者の綿密なフィールド調査により、その誕生から衰微に至る過程を包括的・実証的に究明することは切迫した課題である。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of my research is to elucidate the dynamics of unofficial cultural production in illiberal societies by studying Chinese independent documentary through the new framework I call “cultural asylum.” Initially, the focus of the study was on grasping a situation where the tightening of state regulation--as exemplified by the Film Industry Promotion Law of 2017--resulted in a concomitant shrinking of asylums. However, amidst the pandemic, the emphasis shifted to online and Japan-based investigations. This resulted in the unexpected clarification of various aspects regarding the complex survival strategies of cultural asylums. These included the shifting of asylums to other regions, separating from China altogether, the formation of online platforms within China, and the functions played by interactions with Japan.

本研究の学術的意義は、中国インディペンデント・ドキュメンタリーの形成と変遷を詳細に分析し、「カルチュラル・アサイラム」という新たな概念を提示することにより、非公式文化がいかにして公的文化と共存し、時に衝突しながらも存続してきたかを究明した点にある。特に、電影産業促進法施行後における独立映画制作者たちの生存戦略の分析を通し、非公式文化の動態に関する新たな知見を提供し得た。
社会的意義としては、本研究が日本国内における中国インディペンデント映画の上映機会とディスカッションの場を創出したことで、現代における芸術表現の可能性を広げ、国際的・領域横断的な文化交流を促進したことが挙げられる。
