Outline of Research at the Start

工学をはじめとする様々な分野にあらわれる実問題の多くは、組合せ最適化問題として定式化される。組合せ最適化問題に対しては,短時間に良好な近似解を算出する近似解法の研究がさかんに行われているものの、多くのパラメータ設定を余儀なくされるなど複雑化する傾向にある。本研究は、実用上重要な組合せ最適化問題として知られている最大クリーク問題や2次割当問題などを対象として、パラメータ設定をできるだけ少なくした、よりシンプルな、メタ戦略にもとづく近似解法を開発する。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research investigated the high performance metaheuristic algorithms that efficiently obtain high-quality near-optimal solutions to combinatorial optimisation problems in practical time. In particular, we showed that metaheuristic algorithms based on variable depth search, which introduces ideas from the related graph coloring problem, and that efficient search can be achieved.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は最大クリーク問題を中心に様々なメタ戦略アルゴリズムについて研究を進めた。その中で、グラフ彩色問題に着目した研究内容について述べる。
最大クリーク問題とグラフ彩色問題は、多くの応用を有する実用上重要な問題であるが、NP困難であるため、高品質な解を実用時間内に求めることが必要となっている。これらの問題はグラフ理論において密接に関係しているものの、最大クリーク問題に対する高性能な近似解法においてグラフ彩色の考えを取り入れた研究は多くない状況である。よって、最大クリーク問題に対する可変深度探索にもとづく高性能な局所探索法にグラフ彩色のアイデアを導入したアルゴリズムを示し、その有効性を示した。
