子育て問題激増の中、これまでの研究と実践には養育の責任主体としての親の発達の観点、母性・父性を包摂する「親性」研究が欠落している。心理学研究に散見されるが教育学で親性研究は皆無である。子ども養育の親としての資質を「親性」と考えれば親性に関する研究が欠かせない。この課題への応答のため、教育学パラダイムを転換させ、哲学・歴史学 ・人間関係学・比較教育学・幼児教育学・脳科学・メディア学等諸学を総合し、①「親性」生成の社会的機制や人の関係性 ・共同性、歴史過程の解明、②成果を実践に繋ぐ方略、③「親性」を組み込んだ生涯発達の新たな教育学を創出し、研究と実践現場とを往還する新学術モデルを創出する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We adopt a paradigm shift in taking a cross-disciplinary approach to finding solutions for various current difficulties confronted by child-rearing in Japan. We conducted practical studies on ‘parenthood’ (Oyasei in Japanese), encompassing both motherhood and fatherhood. Considering previous research on supporting parents and children, we regard ‘parenthood’ as a subject of lifelong learning, whereby all citizens should master the knowledge and skills required to care for and nurture children. So we approached our research as a field of "Collaborative Parenting Practice". We undertook interviews and dialogues in constructing educational programmes to generate ‘parenthood’ in families, schools, and other institutions. In particular, we aimed to incorporate our research findings into the curricula of secondary schools, colleges and universities, hoping thereby to construct a new model of parenting that extends beyond the traditional content of home economics education.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
1.子育て困難という社会的課題に対し、学術横断的な総合研究のアプローチにより、教育学のパラダイム転換の方向性を示すことができた。
2.生涯発達課題としての「親性」生成を基軸にすることで、子どもの養育責任を、親だけでなく社会の全成員の責任と捉える観点を提示し、「協同子育て実践学」研究の学問領域を開拓し、教育学の新たな展開の可能性に貢献した。
3.「親性」を問う基礎研究の成果を「親性」生成実践プログラムに展開。実践基盤を、家庭・学校・諸施設等に措定したが、なかでも大学も含む諸学校の教育課程にその成果を組み込み、家庭科教育に収まりきらない新たな子育て実践モデル構築研究に貢献した。
