Research Abstract |
Glycosylated proteins from periodontopathic bacterium Porphyromonas gingivalis were examined by carbohydrate-specific staining and lectin blotting. Major outer membrane proteins RagB and Pgm6/7 as well as other three proteins were identified as glycoproteins. Since mutant strains showed reduced colonization and survival rates, these glycoproteins may be involved in virulence of P. gingivalis.
