Research Abstract |
Industrial museums play an important role as core facilities for industrial tourism. But unfortunately there is not enough data about industrial museums in Japan because major surveys don't treat them as an independent category. For this reason we conducted original research about them and clarified current conditions and problems of 62 industrial museums in 15 Japanese Prefectures. In addition, as a case study, we analyzed the problems of Sado Mine from the viewpoint of visitors by comparison with Iwami Silver Mine which was registered as a World Heritage Site (UNESCO) in 2007 and proposed the plans to develop industrial tourism in Sado.
