Research Abstract |
Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) produces phosphatidylinositol3-phosphate, a signaling lipid required for various biological pathways, suchas autophagy and endocytosis. In plants, the roles of PI3K complexes in cellularactivities remain obscure, because no pi3k mutant is viable to date. In this study, Icreated atatg6 homozygous plants, which exhibited severe growth defects. This mutantshould serve as a model system for further investigating the physiological functions ofplant PI3K comple xes.
