Research Abstract

眼科的疾患(主に網膜変性疾患)に対する細胞移植・再生治療の開発の一環として移植細胞の供給源の開発を行う。すなわちマウスにおいてレトロウィルスによる遺伝子導入により体細胞から未分化増殖能・分化多能性を持つように誘導された人工多能性幹細胞(induced pluripotent stem cells, 以下iPS細胞と略)から網膜を構成する細胞、特に網膜変性疾患において移植細胞の供給が必要となる網膜視細胞への分化誘導の研究、および分化誘導で得られた細胞が眼内への細胞移植後に視機能の維持・再生に有効かどうかの検証実験を行う。
