Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では,高速応答性能を誇るPr3+をドープする新規なマトリクスガラスを独自の組成設計指針に基づいて開発し,高速応答と高輝度を兼ね備えた中性子イメージング用ガラスシンチレータ材料の開発研究を行う.

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we developed a new glass scintillator material for neutron imaging that combines fast response and high luminosity based on our original composition design strategy for new matrix glasses doped with Pr3+.
We succeeded in developing a new glass composition with a high concentration of Pr3+ doping and a higher concentration of Li+ as the neutron capture center.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

独自の組成設計に基づいて開発したフォトニクスガラスと高度な分光分析技術を融合することによってのみ得られる短波長領域の光物性について基礎データの集積を行い,ガラス材料科学と分光科学の双方において学術的に意義が深い基礎研究に貢献した.さらに,これらの研究によって開発する中性子イメージング用ガラスシンチレータ材料は,インフラ非破壊検査,ガン治療,核セキュリティー,など国内外を問わず極めてニーズが高く,利用分野も広範囲にわたるので社会的意義のある実用開発に向けた取り組みにも発展が期待できる.
