| Outline of Research at the Start |
WHOは精神疾患の早期発見・介入のため、生徒・教職員に対して精神疾患の知識啓発を実施することを提案している。本邦でも、平成30年の高等学校学習指導要領で、精神保健教育に関する積極的な教育内容が盛り込まれ、今後は学校におけるMHL教育の必要性が高まる。一方で、これまでに実施経験が少ない本邦では、教員におけるMHL教育を実施する自信のなさが、生徒に対するMHL教育の質に影響を与える可能性がある。本研究では、教員に対してMHL教育を無作為ランダム化比較対照試験で実施し、精神障がいに対する知識や偏見の変化との関係性を検討することで、教員が将来生徒にMHL教育を実施する自信を獲得する方策を検討する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We provided DVD-based educational program comprised a 50-min video lesson designed to improve school teachers’ mental health literacy. We randomly assigned participants to an educational group (n = 49) and a waitlist control group (n = 43). As a result, the educational group showed a greater improvement in knowledge regarding mental health than did the control group and showed an increased intention to assist students with depression. On the other hand, the program was not effective for decreasing stigma toward mental illness.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
短時間の映像教材によるメンタルヘルス・リテラシー教育が、学校教員の精神疾患に関する知識のみならず、精神的不調を来す生徒を援助する意欲を向上させた。このことは、学校における生徒へのメンタルヘルス・リテラシー教育に先立って、教員にメンタルヘルス・リテラシー教育を行うことの有用性を示唆している。一方で、精神疾患に対するスティグマは低減しなかったため、新たな介入方法を模索する必要があると考えられる。
