Outline of Research at the Start |

Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Lithium sulfide is expected to be a green energy storage device that can be mass-produced because it has a high theoretical capacity, more than 10 times that of conventional lithium-ion batteries, and does not contain transition metals, which are rare metals. However, conventional synthesis methods are hazardous and costly, and the destruction of the battery structure due to volume expansion during charge-discharge process has also been an issue. In this study, we succeeded in developing a low-cost, safe, and rapid synthesis method using microwaves and applied it to a clay-type battery that can reduce the destruction of the battery structure, thereby demonstrating the potential of lithium sulfide-based batteries.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
