国内外において、ほとんどの研究グループはVEGFをターゲットに研究を進めているのに対し、我々はGDNF、NFκBといったVEGF以外の因子に着目して研究を進めてきた。その点で我々の研究の独創性が優れているといえる。本研究によってレーザー誘導CNVにおけるNFκBの役割に関するデータおよびNFκBダウンレギュレーションを明らかにする事によって、現在加齢黄斑変性症に対する治療の主流となっている抗VEGF治療以外の可能性としてNFκBを用いた新たな治療を提示できる可能性がある。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
加齢黄斑変性症に対する新規治療薬として、IMD-0354の持つ可能性に関して検討を行い、研究結果をまとめた論文をExperimental Cel Researchに投稿し、「NF-κB activation in retinal microglia is involved in the inflammatory and neovascularization signaling in laser-induced choroidal neovascularization in mice」として、受理された。 今回はマウスにおける検討であったが、今後はヒトへの臨床応用を含めて研究を重ねる予定である。
