| Outline of Research at the Start |
膵癌の治療においては、外科的切除と補助化学療法が重要であり、術後には速やかな日常生活動作の回復が必要であると考えられる。術後の運動機能や骨格筋量維持のためには、リハビリが重要であると考えられるが、運動機能の関する報告は、未だに少ない現状である。そのため、本研究では、運動機能の変化に関連する因子を明らかにすることとElectrical muscle stimulationを用いた介入の効果検証を行う。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study investigated rehabilitation for patients who underwent pancreatic cancer surgery. Study A found that post-surgery, both physical abilities and quality of life declined, with a significant impact from the decrease in walking speed. Additionally, it suggested that a simple sit-to-stand test could potentially assess physical abilities. Study B indicated that electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) might help maintain muscle strength and walking speed after surgery.

この研究の社会的意義は、膵癌患者の術後のQOLと運動機能の改善に向けて取り組んだ点にあります。膵癌患者の予後は近年の治療技術の進歩により改善傾向にあります。その中で、効率的で効果的なリハビリテーションプログラムの開発は、患者のQOLや運動機能の改善のために重要です。運動機能の回復は、患者の自立した生活や自信の回復に繋がり、社会復帰に向けた意欲を高める可能性があります。また、運動機能の維持は長期にみた介護負担や医療費削減につながる可能性があります。
